FloTron completed a Steam System interconnect project at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds on a design-build basis. The final design documents included full mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering. The final project was necessary to replace an obsolete portion of a 350 PSI high-pressure steam loop on the eastern half of the base. The existing loop was replaced with 1500 linear feet of below-grade pre-engineered piping system. All welds for this system were X-ray tested for quality control. There were nine poured-in-place concrete steam valve vaults with ground water pumps. A high voltage tap and new transformer were required to supply power to the pumping systems for ground water and condensate. New steam service connections were made to several buildings requiring modification to their existing steam pressure reducing stations. Modifications were also made to two existing central steam pressure reducing stations serving satellite boiler plants, which supplemented the existing steam loop.
